Saddened To Announce The Passing Of Clifford Kay Johnson

Family Mourns The Passing Of Clifford Kay Johnson:

Clifford Kay Johnson died on Friday, November 7, 2025, while at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon. His passing has been formally announced along with information regarding his surviving relatives and arrangements. Clifford is survived by his spouse, Betty, as well as his two daughters, Candy Hickman and Carol Betz. He also leaves behind several stepdaughters, including Sibyl James and her husband Jeff, as well as Melanie Toler of Springfield, Missouri, and Libby Appel of Denver. In addition, his surviving family includes grandchildren named Molly, Lucy, Hagen (married to Jamie), Spencer, Tanner (married to Brittan), Ashley (married to Teddy), and Maria. He also has a great-grandson named Louis who remains among his living relatives. Other surviving extended family members include his niece, Diane Olson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and his nephew, Robin Olson of Sioux City, Iowa. Clifford was preceded in death by his grandson, Liam Appel.

Following his death, plans have been made for cremation rather than burial. A memorial visitation will take place at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, where family, friends, and others who knew him will be able to gather. The family has noted that those who wish to express support may do so through charitable contributions rather than sending flowers. Donations may be directed to Ozarks Food Harvest, located at 2810 North Cedarbrook Avenue, Springfield, Missouri, 65803. Other details, including timing and final arrangements, are expected to follow or be provided at the visitation.
