Two Found Dead In Highway Crash In Wabaunsee County

A man who was seriously injured in a crash involving street racing on San Antonio’s East Side has died, authorities confirmed on Sunday. The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 33-year-old Robert Espinoza. Officials have not yet released the official cause or manner of death.

The crash occurred late Wednesday night, at around 11:30 p.m., along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10, between North Foster Road and FM 1516. According to a preliminary report from the San Antonio Police Department, two vehicles, both BMWs, were racing at high speeds on the highway. One was identified as a BMW M4, and the other as a BMW 3 Series.

During the race, investigators say the driver of the BMW M4 lost control and crashed into Espinoza’s Nissan. The impact caused the BMW to skid into a concrete divider, while Espinoza’s vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop. Emergency responders transported Espinoza to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Police arrested both suspected racing drivers, identified as 20-year-old Kyle Jin Liu and 20-year-old Evan Moreno. They were initially charged with racing causing serious bodily injury. jail records indicate that both were released on bond Saturday. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the charges will be upgraded following Espinoza’s death.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials review evidence and witness statements.
