Saddened To Announce The Passing Of Irish fashion designer Catriona Hanly

Irish fashion designer Catriona Hanly, known for her high-profile clientele and contributions to Irish fashion, has died. Hanly, who was originally from Strokestown in Co. Roscommon, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, according to a family announcement. She was remembered by her parents, Bertie and Imelda, as well as her siblings Alan, Marcus, Enda and Tara, extended relatives, and many friends both in Ireland and abroad.

Hanly gained recognition in both Irish and international fashion circles, with her designs worn by several well-known public figures. Among those who have appeared in her pieces are Madison McKinley from The Wolf of Wall Street, actress Yolanda Kettle of The Crown, and Irish media personalities including Laura Whitmore, Amy Huberman, Vogue Williams, Amanda Byram, Victoria Smurfit, Lorraine Keane, Claire Byrne, Anna Daly, and Celia Holman Lee.

Beyond her career in fashion, Hanly was active in charitable work. In a 2021 interview, she described her involvement with numerous organizations, including the Rape Crisis Foundation, the Hope Foundation, Cancer Care West, the Pink Ribbon Foundation, Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, and several fundraising events supporting healthcare and social services.

Hanly studied fashion design at Central Saint Martin’s College in London. Her parents are known for purchasing and restoring Lough Rynn Castle in Co. Leitrim and Kilronan Castle in Co. Roscommon. She previously stated that her mother played a significant role in guiding her into the world of fashion. Further details regarding funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
